About

MasterRemit is a digital money transfer platform serving migrant communities across Australia and New Zealand who send money home regularly, competing on rate, speed, and trust.

The brief to Mavlers Agency was unambiguous: build an acquisition engine that delivers verified, transacting users, not just app downloads.

The real business metric sat two steps past the install, at the first completed transfer, in a fintech category that gets harder to win every quarter.

Challenges

  • A highly competitive, rate-driven remittance category left little room to win senders on price alone
  • Acquisition costs were climbing steadily every quarter, pressuring efficiency exactly as budgets needed to grow
  • Distinct nationalities and sender personas, from Ethiopian to Filipino to Nepalese, each needed its own message and rate story
  • Installs were only ever a proxy; the metric that mattered, the first completed transfer, sat two steps further down the funnel
  • Australia and New Zealand behaved differently, so no single playbook could serve both markets as spend scaled

Goals

  • Build campaigns that optimize for completed transfers, not installs
  • Bring acquisition costs down even as spend and volume both scale
  • Give every sender persona and nationality its own message and rate story
  • Track a user's full path from ad click to completed transaction
  • Run one coherent system across both Australian and New Zealand markets

Solution/Approach

  • Ran multiple Google Performance Max campaigns split by country and sender persona, layered with Search and App campaigns using value-based smart bidding, and live exchange rates displayed dynamically in ad headlines
  • Put the majority of performance weight on Meta, rendering live exchange rates directly on creative and using UGC-style video as the strongest lever for new senders
  • Tracked the full funnel from install to registration to first transaction, pushing every post-install event through Firebase and attributing in-app activity back to the originating campaign
  • Built audience strategy around diaspora and geography, layering destination-country interests, festival-driven promotional windows, and creative served in the sender's own language via on-device translation
  • Ran a weekly optimization rhythm across creative, keywords, geo targeting, audiences, budget splits, and bid strategy, cutting what underperformed and scaling what worked

Results

  • 28,290 monthly transactions - Up from 1,635, a 16.3x increase (+1,630.28%) in verified, completed transfers
  • $1.19 cost per transaction - Down from $5.33, a 78% reduction even as spend and volume both scaled
  • $4.79 million in monthly sending amount - Up from $412,451, a 1,061.88% increase in total value remitted through the platform
  • 50+ receiving countries reached - Grown from a single Australia and New Zealand origin base, spanning South and Southeast Asia and MENA
  • Lowest cost per transaction of the partnership - The record month landed with the best efficiency the account had ever seen, not the worst
  • 4+ year partnership compounding - Two years of dedicated paid performance focus built on trust and feedback loops rather than restarting each quarter

The bigger win: MasterRemit proved that scaling spend and improving efficiency are not opposing goals, cost per transaction hit its lowest point in the partnership in the same month transaction volume hit its highest.
