This venue hosts weddings, corporate functions, galas, and large-scale celebrations across a major metropolitan area. In August 2025, its branded visibility was healthy. People who already knew the name could find it without trouble. The problem was everyone who didn't.

‍

Non-branded organic sessions sat at roughly 900 per month. The site was capturing awareness that already existed. It wasn't generating new demand.

‍

On AI search, the situation was more stark: an AI Visibility score of zero across every answer engine. Not cited, not mentioned, not surfaced.

‍

Ten months later, non-branded traffic is running around 2,500 sessions a month, qualified organic leads are up 148%, and the venue shows up in ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, and Google AI Overviews for high-intent booking prompts.

Client Objectives

The challenges the venue faced

1.
A branded-only visibility problem

People who already knew the name could find the site. People who didn't - the real growth audience - weren't discovering it. Around 900 non-branded sessions per month across an entire major-metro market.

2.
Thin content, weak non-branded rankings

Almost nothing in place for research-stage searches. Couples planning a wedding, planners scoping a corporate event, and families looking for gala space were doing months of research on Google before ever reaching a shortlist, and the venue wasn't in those research-stage results. Category and intent terms were barely ranking.

3.
Technical and URL debt holding the site back

TA backlog of technical errors was limiting crawlability. Generic, non-descriptive URLs were blurring the topical signals search engines use to understand what pages are actually about.

4.
Weak local presence in a hyper-local market

The Google Business Profile was incomplete, cutting map-pack visibility. No dedicated pages existed for the specific GTA location terms that the client actually wanted to own.

5.
AI search: literal zero

AI visibility score of 0 across every tracked engine. No mentions, no cited pages, nowhere.

Mavlers Strategy

Seven workstreams, sequenced to deliver

1.
Refreshed the existing core pages

Service pages and landing pages rewritten for depth and keyword coverage. Internal linking sharpened so the pages built new equity rather than sitting isolated. The pages already there had to earn their traffic before more got added on top.

2.
Built a data-driven blog programme

New content mapped to non-branded, research-stage demand - the queries couples, planners, and families type months before they contact a venue. These posts now draw their own traffic instead of relying on category pages to do all the work.

3.
Cleared the technical and URL backlog

Crawlability errors fixed at the source. Generic URLs replaced with descriptive, SEO-friendly structures that make the site's topical shape legible to search engines and to models pulling context.

4.
Went after the high-intent non-branded keywords

The specific terms the venue was absent from - the ones actually driving purchase decisions - got targeted directly. This is where the near-tripling of non-branded traffic came from.

5.
Built dedicated GTA location pages

Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and wider GTA got their own pages, not just mentions on a generic contact page. Location intent gets its own destination.

6.
Google Business Profile completion and cadence

The GBP got completed properly, then moved to a regular update cadence -Β  posts, offers, event highlights, photos. Local and map-pack visibility lifted as a result.

7.
UX for enquiry and AI search visibility

On-site paths to enquiry got clearer - fewer clicks, fewer decisions before the form. On the AI side, platform-level analysis identified where the brand needed to show up, and content was structured for citation across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google's AI surfaces. Zero to active presence.

What the venue achieved

The traffic and lead picture

Total organic sessions and non-branded sessions moved almost in lockstep. Meaning the growth wasn't coming from more branded queries. It was net-new discovery.

Authority signals (Semrush)

Off-page strength moved in step with the on-page work. This is what a healthy compounding site looks like: the technical foundation, content, and links all reinforcing each other.
